Coal India Limited has partnered with Bengaluru-based Aster CMI Hospital to offer life-saving bone marrow transplants to children suffering from thalassaemia and aplastic anaemia, according to the hospital's announcement on Tuesday.

This initiative, backed by the Health Ministry of India, is part of Coal India's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project, said Vinay Ranjan, Director of Coal India Limited, in the press release. The CSR project will financially assist bone marrow transplant treatments for these life-threatening conditions.

By combining resources and expertise, Coal India Limited and Aster CMI Hospital aim to make a significant impact on the lives of children born with these rare and critical conditions. Coal India has pledged up to Rs 3 crore over a three-year period, a commitment expected to provide medical assistance to approximately 300 patients. Dr. S P Somashekhar and Dr. Stalin Ramprakash of Aster CMI Hospital emphasized the potential for these treatments to offer children a chance at a normal and fulfilling life.
