Anwar El Ghazi Donates Settlement to Gaza Children Amid Controversy

Anwar El Ghazi has committed to donating 500,000 euros to children in Gaza, reflecting one-third of the funds he received from Mainz 05 after they wrongfully terminated his contract. This controversy began when Mainz 05 suspended the Dutch footballer over a social media post supporting Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas conflict in October.

Following his suspension, Mainz 05 officially terminated El Ghazi's contract the following month. A German court later ruled the termination was unlawful and ordered the club to compensate El Ghazi with 1.7 million euros. El Ghazi, now playing for Cardiff City, revealed he received 1.5 million euros from Mainz, attributing his donation to this settlement.

El Ghazi expressed gratitude to Mainz for the financial compensation and hopes it brings some relief to the children in Gaza. Despite Mainz's attempts to withhold payment, El Ghazi believes this incident has amplified his voice for the oppressed in Gaza. The backdrop of this controversy involves significant casualties and accusations of genocide amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
