The doctors' strike in the national capital over the rape and murder of a medic at a state-run hospital in Kolkata entered its seventh day on Sunday, with non-emergency services, including OPD, remaining paralysed.

Protests began on Monday evening, initially confined to medical college campuses. By Friday, doctors had taken to the streets, protesting the incident at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata earlier this month. In Delhi, resident doctors, guided by an action plan, held a candlelight march from outside Gate 1 of Rajiv Chowk Metro Station at Connaught Place.

Protesters, demanding a central law to check violence against on-duty health personnel and justice for the victim, formed a human chain in Connaught Place Inner Circle, interacting with the public to raise awareness. Resident doctors have vowed to continue their strike, with a meeting planned for Monday morning to discuss further actions, including a march to Nirman Bhawan. Despite assurances from the Union health ministry to form a panel for suggesting safety measures, the doctors remain firm on their indefinite strike until their demands are met.
