The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) India unit has commended Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav's efforts in promoting menstrual health among adolescents in the state.

In a post on UNICEF India's X account on Saturday night, it was highlighted that a sum of Rs 57.18 crore has been duly transferred into the accounts of 19 lakh school-going girls in Madhya Pradesh. This cash transfer scheme aims to advance menstrual health and hygiene.

'We appreciate Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav's initiative to promote menstrual health among adolescents,'' the post read. ''UNICEF India is collaborating with the Government of India and various stakeholders to enhance school hygiene and menstrual health awareness,'' it further noted. During an event on August 11 in Bhopal, Dr. Yadav initiated the fund transfer under the 'Samagra Shiksha' programme, ensuring that 19 lakh girl students receive financial aid for sanitary napkins for classes 7 to 12.
