Surge in Malaria Cases in Mizoram: Five Dead, Over 12,000 Diagnosed
Five people have died of malaria in Mizoram this year, with over 12,290 diagnosed between January and July. The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme is reviewing the situation. Dengue and chikungunya cases are also present, with malaria being most common in districts bordering Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Five individuals have succumbed to malaria in Mizoram this year, health officials revealed on Tuesday.
According to official data, 12,290 cases of malaria were reported between January and July, with five fatalities. The deceased were all from the Lawngtlai district.
The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) convened a meeting to examine the prevalence of malaria, dengue, and chikungunya infections in the state.
Officials noted an uptick in malaria PV cases during this period.
Dengue and chikungunya cases are also being tracked, with 267 people diagnosed with dengue and three with chikungunya since January.
Malaria cases were predominantly found in four districts—Lawngtlai, Lunglei, Mamit, and Siaha—bordering Bangladesh and Myanmar.
