Urgent Call for Aid: IOM Highlights Sudan's Humanitarian Crisis
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has called for increased donations to address Sudan's severe humanitarian crisis. With only 21% of necessary funds received, the IOM warns that inaction may lead to tens of thousands of preventable deaths due to conflict, hunger, disease, and floods affecting millions.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has issued a stark warning about the escalating displacement crisis in Sudan, urging nations to significantly boost their donations. According to Mohamed Refaat, who leads the IOM's mission in Sudan, the organization has barely received 21% of the financial support needed to provide essential aid.
"The international community is not doing enough," Refaat stated. "Without an immediate massive and coordinated global response, we risk witnessing tens of thousands of preventable deaths in the coming months." The crisis, which began in April 2023, has displaced over 10.7 million people within Sudan and forced 2.3 million others to flee across borders.
The ongoing conflict has triggered ethnic violence and created famine-like conditions, exacerbating the already dire situation with hunger, disease, and flooding. The IOM's call for action highlights the urgent need for international assistance to prevent a catastrophic humanitarian disaster.
