A 14-year-old boy from Malappuram, Kerala, succumbed to Nipah virus infection, as confirmed by state Health Minister Veena George on Sunday.
According to George, the boy from Pandikkad experienced a massive cardiac arrest at 10:50 am, and despite efforts to revive him, he passed away at 11:30 am.
George mentioned that the boy was on ventilator support and had reduced urine output before the cardiac event. Arrangements for his funeral will follow international protocols, with specific details to be decided after consultations between the district Collector and the boy's family.
