A tragic incident unfolded in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district early Tuesday morning when a landslide near Joshimath claimed the life of a Nepali labourer and injured another, according to officials.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 am, burying the Nepali labourers living near Marwari bridge under the debris that fell from the hill, stated Chamoli Additional District Information Officer Ravindra Negi.

Rescue teams, including police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, quickly arrived on the scene and pulled out two individuals from the debris. Unfortunately, one person was already deceased.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Gum Bahadur from Surkhet village, Nepal. The injured labourer, 22-year-old Dinesh Bahadur from Nepal's Kalikot, was taken to the Community Health Centre in Joshimath for treatment.
