Apple Shifts Gear: F1 Expansion and Cinema Sequel In The Works
Apple is planning a sequel to Brad Pitt's successful F1 film and aims to expand its global Formula One presence after securing U.S. broadcast rights. Eddy Cue expressed excitement about the current coverage and growth potential in the sport, especially with Apple's new CEO John Ternus being a motorsport enthusiast.
In a drive to bolster its presence in motorsports and entertainment, Apple is planning a sequel to the successful Brad Pitt F1 film and expanding its Formula One involvement. Senior Vice-President of Services, Eddy Cue, confirmed the potential sequel during a recent interview at the Miami Grand Prix, revealing Apple's strong interest in the sport.
The initial F1 movie, which cost around $200 million, generated $634 million in revenue. Meanwhile, Apple TV has taken the helm from Walt Disney's ESPN as the exclusive Formula One broadcaster in the U.S., covering all 24 races of the season, marking a new era of F1's digital presence.
With John Ternus succeeding Tim Cook as Apple's CEO, Cue anticipates a strengthened relationship with Formula One, given Ternus' passion for racing. Apple's strategy appears to focus on maximizing U.S. market success, paving the way for global expansion and affirming its commitment to motorsport's development.
