Andhra Pradesh Unveils Solar Manufacturing Initiative: A Step Towards Energy Independence

Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a Rs 5,400-crore solar manufacturing plant in Anakapalli, slated to enhance the local energy supply chain. The 6 GW unit aims to reduce import dependence and bolster India's energy security. The project anticipates generating thousands of jobs and boosting regional industrial growth.

On Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation for a significant solar manufacturing facility in Anakapalli district, marking a momentous step toward energy self-sufficiency. The 6 GW solar ingot and wafer unit, costing Rs 5,400 crore, aims to build a resilient domestic solar supply chain and minimize import dependency, announced the official statement.

Enthusiastically addressing the gathering, CM Naidu highlighted Anakapalli's transformation into a hub of large-scale investments, while Sumanth Sinha, son of former Union Minister Yashwanth Sinha, drives the initiative. This facility, a crucial element in reversing reliance on foreign components, is set to provide over 2,100 jobs and fortify regional industrial growth.

IT Minister Nara Lokesh hailed the plant as pivotal, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh's status as the 'silicon coast of India'. The government under Naidu foresees expansive growth in renewable energy, targeting 160 GW by 2030. Plans also include installing electric vehicle charging stations, promoting solar units for homes, and completing key projects to fulfill public promises.
