EGA's Long Road to Recovery After Smelter Attack

Emirates Global Aluminium's Al Taweelah facility in the UAE was attacked, causing a full shutdown. Recovery and restoration of primary aluminium production is expected to take up to 12 months. The attack led to an evacuation and shutdown of the smelter, Casthouse, power plant, and other facilities.

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) announced that it could take up to a year to fully restore aluminium production at its Al Taweelah facility in the UAE following an attack the previous month.

The attack, allegedly by Iranian forces, resulted in the full evacuation of the site and emergency shutdowns of its smelter, Casthouse, power plant, and associated refineries and recycling facilities, disrupting operations massively.

This incident marks a significant setback for EGA, one of the world's largest aluminium producers, as it embarks on a lengthy restoration process to bring its UAE production base back to full capacity.
