In a significant move toward sustainable energy solutions, India's AM Green and Japan's Mitsui & Co have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the energy transition front. The agreement focuses on exploring strategic investments in green aluminium initiatives.
Under this collaboration, Mitsui will evaluate potential investments in the value chain of AM Green Aluminium Metals and Materials. This venture could pave the way for the world's first fully integrated green aluminium production platform, poised to bolster equity funding needed for such an ambitious project.
AM Green and Mitsui will also consider various commercial and strategic opportunities, including low-carbon aluminium offtake and auxiliary material supplies for their aluminium smelter and alumina refinery. This initiative is supported by renewable energy commitments, such as Coal India's pledge to supply 4.5 gigawatts of renewable power to AM Green's operations.
