BRO Launches Swachhata Abhiyan, Celebrates India's Maritime Legacy

The Border Roads Organisation's Project Brahmank commenced a month-long cleanliness drive on Gandhi Jayanti in Arunachal Pradesh to promote Swachh Bharat Mission. Simultaneously, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to revive India's maritime heritage through the Stitched Ship Project - INSV Kaundinya, highlighting ancient shipbuilding techniques.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Project Brahmank of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) launched an extensive Swachhata Abhiyan to align with the Swachh Bharat Mission's objectives. This month-long initiative, beginning October 2, aims to instill cleanliness across the campus in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, continuing through October 31.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence's Public Relations Officer, the campaign was inaugurated at 6 a.m. under the leadership of the Chief Engineer of Project Brahmank. With 85 participants, including officers and other personnel, the inaugural drive emphasized maintaining high standards of cleanliness within the headquarters, officers' accommodations, and surrounding environments. This initiative promotes a plastic-free, hygienic campus, honoring Mahatma Gandhi's vision of a 'Clean India'.

In a related development, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Culture signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Stitched Ship Project, featuring INSV Kaundinya. This project aims to revive India's ancient maritime traditions using the indigenous 'stitched ship' technique, a notable departure from modern shipbuilding methods. The Ministry highlighted the significance of this venture on social media, underscoring the revival of traditional craftsmanship through this unique vessel.
