Shiv Sena's Sanjay Nirupam has called on Mumbai Police to shut down street-side Shawarma stalls during Navratri. He argues that the sale of non-vegetarian food on streets during this Hindu festival offends religious sentiments.
Nirupam noted over 250 Shawarma stalls in Andheri East alone and plans to approach the MIDC Police to request the closure of such outlets during Navratri. He clarified that the demand targets open-air vendors, not indoor restaurants.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora countered opposition parties' claims about the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, encouraging the Muslim community to trust government reforms meant to benefit them. Deora advised the community to avoid being misled and emphasized integration into mainstream society.
