In a significant development, the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi granted a six-day police custody of Jyoti Prakash, also known as Baba, amidst investigations into an organized crime syndicate linked to notorious gangster Nandu. Prakash, who was apprehended again following his arrest from Tihar Jail, is the brother of the purported leader, Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu.
The decision from Special Judge Kaveri Baweja enables authorities to keep Prakash in custody until April 4, aiding the Delhi police's quest to untangle the complex web of the Nandu Gang. Despite seeking ten days of custody, the court approved six, underscoring the need to investigate Prakash's alleged role in managing gang operations from behind bars.
Confronted by Advocate Rohit Kumar Dalal, who contested the extension citing Prakash's decade-long judicial custody, the court sided with the prosecution. The Special Public Prosecutor, Akhand Pratap Singh, emphasized the necessity of this move to dismantle the crime syndicate. More revelations are anticipated as the case unfolds against other accused like ex-MLA Naresh Balyan.
