In a fierce encounter in the forested regions of the Sukma-Dantewada border, security forces have successfully neutralized 16 Naxals, marking a significant victory against insurgency in the area. Two jawans were injured but are in a stable condition, as confirmed by Bastar Inspector General Sundarraj P on Saturday.
The security operation, which remains ongoing, has unearthed a large cache of automatic weapons. Authorities have also not ruled out potential casualties on the opposing side as the mission continues. Detailed information will be released post-identification of those neutralized in the operation, noted IG Sundarraj.
The ongoing exchange of fire follows a joint anti-Naxal initiative spearheaded by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Launched following reliable intelligence reports, the mission aimed to disrupt Naxal activities in Kerlapal. Sukma, notorious for past Naxal violence, remains under close surveillance as forces conduct a thorough search.
