In a solemn tribute, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah honored Head Constable Jagbir, who, alongside three other officers, died during the ongoing anti-terrorist operation 'Safiyan' in Kathua. The high-stakes operation, which seeks to neutralize threats from suspected Pakistani infiltrators, has intensified following their sightings in the region.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, the operation began on March 23 after local reports of the infiltrators led to a confrontation between security forces and the suspects. The encounter resulted in the deaths of two terrorists, but not before four brave police personnel, including Selection Grade Constables Balvinder Singh, Jaswant Singh, and Tariq Ahmed, lost their lives.
Security forces, comprising the J&K Police, Army, BSF, and CRPF, are collaboratively working to end the cross-border infiltration. DGP Prabhat assured media that the police's mission remains resolute and vowed to prevent future incursions. As operations persist, authorities express hope for a swift conclusion.
