Supreme Court Bar Association President and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, on Saturday, delivered a compelling address at the special plenary session of the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA). He called for accelerated efforts in skill development, economic reforms, and infrastructure to bolster India's manufacturing sector.
Sibal reminisced about his role in initiating India's skill development program, admitting its current inadequacy, and stressed the need for skilling 500 million youth. He further dissected economic barriers, notably the high cost of capital and inefficient logistics impairing competitiveness.
Pointing to structural inefficiencies and financial hurdles, Sibal envisions a future where India transcends basic assembly work to become a global manufacturing powerhouse. Through cohesive reforms and innovation, he argues, India could enhance its economic stature and job creation, cementing its position on the world stage.
