On Saturday, a large gathering of worshippers attended the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain to celebrate Shani Amavasya, seeking divine blessings. They participated in special rituals, including the divya dhoop-deep Aarti and the esteemed Bhasma Aarti.

"Devotees visit the temple during special occasions, bringing a unique spiritual atmosphere to the rituals," temple priest Mahesh Sharma told ANI. Shani Amavasya is especially meaningful for villagers and locals who travel to seek Baba Mahakal's blessings.

During this year's Shani Amavasya on March 29, thousands participated in the Bhasma Aarti and Divya Aarti, considered favorable for rituals and charity. The Bhasma Aarti takes place during Brahma Muhurta (3:30-5:30 AM), beginning with Baba Mahakal's doors opening and a sacred Panchamrit bath.

The deity, adorned with cannabis and sandalwood, is honored with Bhasma and dhoop-deep Aarti. This is accompanied by drums and conch shells, creating a reverent ambiance at the temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, perched on the Shipra River's banks.
