BJP leader V Muraleedharan has thrown his support behind the Immigration and Foreigners Bill 2025, calling for its adoption in Kerala. He asserts the bill is crucial for national security by preventing illegal immigration, particularly from Bangladesh, where migrants allegedly contribute to drug problems in Kerala.
The Lok Sabha, under the aegis of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, passed the bill on Thursday. Shah emphasized the nation's commitment to excluding individuals who pose security threats. He asserted that India is not a 'dharamshala' and no unsafe elements will be tolerated within its borders.
Highlighting India's economic growth and appeal as a manufacturing hub, Shah identified the dual challenge of fostering development while curbing unlawful entries. He reiterated the government's stance for strict actions against any individuals, including Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, looking to disrupt national peace.
