In a landmark move to revolutionize agriculture, the Indian government has issued over 4.6 crore digital IDs to farmers under its Digital Agriculture Mission, according to Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Chouhan highlighted the success of the PM Fasal Bima Yojna, the world's largest crop insurance scheme, which has insured 7,708 lakh farmers and issued claims worth Rs 1.74 lakh crore since its inception in 2016.
By fostering a comprehensive digital ecosystem, including the creation of AgriStack and geo-referenced maps, the mission aims to provide reliable, real-time crop data and facilitate access to various agriculture-related services for farmers across India.
