Union Cabinet Boosts Fertilizer Subsidy for Kharif Season

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a significant subsidy of Rs 37,216 crore on phosphatic and potassic fertilizers for the Kharif season of 2025. This move forms part of the government's strategy to provide cost-effective soil nutrients to farmers.
Cabinet's decision comes with fixed Nutrient-Based Subsidy (NBS) rates for the mentioned season, ensuring the retail prices of essential fertilizers like DAP remain stable. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized this step to keep fertilizers affordable.
The plan includes enhanced subsidy rates per kilogram for essential nutrients like phosphorus and sulphur, with the Cabinet making 28 grades of P&K fertilizers accessible at subsidized prices under the long-established NBS Scheme.
