Dalal Street investors amassed riches worth Rs 25.90 lakh crore during the 2024-25 fiscal, with the BSE Sensex showing a 5% increase amid optimistic market trends. Despite facing volatility, new record highs were set following favorable election outcomes and significant retail engagement.
The Sensex experienced gains of 3,763.57 points, or 5.10%, and the NSE Nifty rose by 1,192.45 points, or 5.34%, indicating overall growth. However, foreign investors adopted a cautious stance amid stretched valuations and global uncertainties, impacting the market trajectory.
A series of IPOs and an election outcome showing political stability were major positive drivers. Yet, the latter half of FY25 was met with sharp corrections due to corporate earnings fallouts and global political shifts, including the U.S. election outcomes and China's stimulus efforts.
