In an unprecedented move, state-run power distributor Mahavitaran has severed electricity supply to common areas of a four-story building in Maharashtra's Gondia, which accommodates 32 government offices. The interruption came as a result of unpaid dues totaling Rs 2.65 lakh, an official revealed on Friday.
The disconnection affects critical areas like the lobby, entrance, and toilets, creating inconvenience for both the hundreds of employees and citizens who frequent the administrative building daily. Sub-Divisional Officer Chandrabhan Khandait explained that the problem arose due to irregular contributions to the contingency fund by the housed offices.
However, a resolution seems imminent as the offices have committed to settling their respective shares. 'We hope to resolve the issue soon and restore the power supply,' Khandait assured.
