Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured farmers and lawmakers that the data collected about farmers is secure and only shared with consent. Highlighting the importance of digital infrastructure, he stated that such data would allow farmers to benefit from various government schemes, reducing incidents of corruption and fraud.
During a session in the Rajya Sabha, Chouhan emphasized the Modi administration's commitment to agricultural development. Key measures include the PM-KISAN scheme, providing Rs 6,000 annually to farmers, significant hikes in the minimum support price, and enhanced agricultural credit. He also mentioned export-import policies safeguarding farmers' interests.
The AgriStack, developed by the Union agriculture ministry, operates under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, ensuring privacy and security of data through encrypted transmissions and token-based authentication. Special efforts are directed towards digital inclusion, particularly in rural areas lacking mobile infrastructure, ensuring no farmer misses these digital advantages.
