Assam Aims for Educational Excellence by 2030

At an event in Guwahati, he praised educational reforms and initiatives, including Gunotsav evaluations and the ISO-certified Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, as key factors in achieving educational excellence.

Expressing optimism about Assam's future, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared the state's ambition to lead in India's education sector by 2030. He emphasized the state's robust commitment to public education, noting Assam's significant per-student investment compared to other states like Tamil Nadu.
At an event in Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati, CM Sarma celebrated the success of Gunotsav 2025, a program that significantly upgraded Assam's educational quality since its inception in 2017. He highlighted impressive progress, with the number of A+ grade schools rising from 6,307 in 2017 to 13,300 in 2025.
The Chief Minister lauded Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan's ISO certification as an unprecedented milestone for state-run programs in India, crediting Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and Mission Director Om Prakash for this success. He further emphasized reforms like merit-based teacher recruitment and practical training, underscoring their importance in strengthening Assam's education system.
