Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing critique of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing the party of permitting Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators to enter India through West Bengal. Shah cited the lack of cooperation from the state government as a reason for the delay in completing 450 km of border fencing.

Addressing the Lok Sabha during the debate on the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, Shah asserted that Aadhaar cards were being issued to illegal migrants in West Bengal, enabling their movement across the country. He targeted the Congress for past failures on illegal migration, while expressing confidence in the BJP's prospects in the next West Bengal assembly elections.

Highlighting India's growing economic stature, Shah emphasized the importance of controlling immigration to ensure national security. He reiterated that strict action would be taken against any infiltrators threatening peace, while welcoming those contributing to India's development. The House subsequently passed the Immigration and Foreigners Bill.
