In a surprising trend, the country has recently witnessed several instances of a sudden dip in solar power generation, posing challenges to the stability of the energy grid.
Minister of State for Power, Shripad Naik, disclosed this information to the Lok Sabha, outlining the need for immediate government intervention to prevent further disruptions. Detailed figures showed that on February 25, solar production dropped by 18.96%, and similar declines were observed in the preceding weeks.
To tackle the resultant demand-supply imbalance and ensure grid stability, the government has implemented automatic generation control and adjusted production at thermal and hydro power plants. These steps aim to mitigate localized high voltage issues and maintain a secure and reliable energy supply.
