Airtel Paves Path to Financial Prudence with Major Debt Prepayments

In a strategic move to enhance its financial footing, Bharti Airtel, along with its subsidiary Bharti Hexacom, has prepaid an additional Rs 5,985 crore of high-cost spectrum liabilities to the government. The telecom giant announced this development on Wednesday.
Demonstrating further financial diligence, Airtel's subsidiary Network i2i has also voluntarily redeemed USD 1 billion in 'perpetual debt securities'. This move aligns with Airtel's strategy to lower its debt burdens and interest expenses significantly.
The company now reports a cumulative prepayment of Rs 66,665 crore. Airtel's proactive financial measures, including the redemption of perpetual notes, underscore its commitment to operational efficiency and a strong capital position.
