The National Institute of Health and Family Welfare's Dr. Renu Shehrawat underscores the critical contributions of the National Cold Chain and Vaccine Management Resource Centre (NCCVMRC) in enhancing vaccine management both in India and on an international scale.
In a conversation with ANI, Dr. Shehrawat elaborated on NCCVMRC's efforts, emphasizing its role in training other nations in effective vaccine management. "We support our country and aid other nations," she said, citing recent work in Malawi, where the center's team assessed and advised on vaccine systems.
She further noted the center's unique position in training personnel to maintain cold chain systems. From large walk-in freezers to solar and electrical equipment, the center equips health professionals with the skills needed to ensure vaccines are stored correctly. With a rapid response capability, their national team's technicians address equipment failures swiftly—often within 24 hours.
Dr. Shehrawat noted that NCCVMRC also tracks cold chain operations through a database, allowing them to quickly resolve equipment malfunctions and maintain system integrity. This proactive approach assures that vital vaccines remain effective until administered to beneficiaries.
