Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jagadambika Pal has accused the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) of politicizing the issue surrounding the Waqf Amendment Bill, set to be introduced soon. Pal alleged that the AIMPLB is trying to mislead minorities and Muslims across the nation.
Despite the bill not being passed, Pal highlighted that protests by the board are politically motivated, with demonstrations already planned. BJP leader CR Kesavan emphasized that the proposed amendment will empower underprivileged Muslims, contrasting it with the Congress's 1995 Waqf Act, which he labeled as discriminatory.
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, intends to rectify past issues with reforms such as property digitization, enhanced audits, and mechanisms to reclaim occupied assets. These changes aim to ensure that Waqf properties serve their intended purpose, benefiting both the Muslim community and the nation.
