BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab described the recent all-party meeting regarding the 'One Nation-One Election' initiative as highly productive. Addressing the attendees, former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court DN Patel and Attorney General R Venkataramani provided detailed clarifications on the proposal.
The Lok Sabha has authorized an extension for the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to complete its report on the 'One Nation, One Election' Bills by the end of the 2025 Monsoon Session. PP Chaudhary, Chairman of the JPC, tabled the motion.
Significant legislation up for discussion includes the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The JPC, led by figures like Justice DN Patel and AG Venkataramani, will reconvene on April 2 for further consultations.
