The Punjab government is taking a pivotal step towards sustainable energy by incentivizing farmers to produce surplus solar energy through agricultural solar pumps, as announced by New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Aman Arora in the state assembly.
This policy aims not only to empower state farmers but also enhance the renewable energy sector by compensating them for excess solar energy fed back into the grid. The initiative supports the state's goal to decrease dependency on fossil fuels, fostering a greener Punjab.
Additionally, the Punjab Energy Development Agency plans to install 20,000 solar pumps and fortify solar energy production on government buildings, reducing distribution losses and assisting in achieving renewable energy targets.
