In a strategic move to dismantle terror networks and curb illegal activities, Kulgam Police in Jammu and Kashmir executed searches at multiple district locations linked to proscribed organizations, as per an official statement. These searches targeted the residences and premises belonging to suspected members of these unlawful groups.

Kulgam Police emphasized their dedication to preserving peace and stability in the region. "Strict measures will persist against elements engaged in illegal activities to ensure regional safety," a police representative affirmed. Notably, Kulgam Police registered its first electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) following a WhatsApp complaint, revealed a senior officer.

The FIR was filed at the Qazigund police station by Bashir Ahmad Khanday. He reported that on March 12, an unidentified individual, after observing his ATM transactions at Chowgam, deceitfully swapped his ATM card. Subsequently, he received notifications of Rs 22,000 being withdrawn from his account. The complainant urged legal action against the perpetrator and recovery of his stolen funds, stated the Public Relations Officer (Kulgam Police). Pursuant to the complaint, an FIR was lodged under sections 303 and 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Qazigund, PRO added, noting that the investigation is underway.

The statement also highlighted that, to enhance public safety and justice, the government has implemented new criminal laws allowing citizens to file FIRs via social media platforms. This pioneering approach is designed to make crime reporting more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly. "With the growing prevalence of social media, this initiative is anticipated to transform public interactions with law enforcement agencies," the PRO commented. (ANI)
