Arrest in Bilaspur Shooting: A Step Closer to Justice

Police have arrested the second shooter involved in the attack on former Congress MLA Bamber Thakur, increasing the number of people in custody to five. In a significant development, Bilaspur police have apprehended Ajay Kumar, identified as the second shooter involved in the assassination attempt against former Congress MLA Bamber Thakur. Kumar, a resident from Haryana's Jhajjar district, was arrested and presented in court on Tuesday. He has been placed in judicial custody until April 7.

This arrest is crucial in the ongoing investigation of the brazen March 14 attack that left Thakur and his Personal Security Officer injured at his wife's government residence in Bilaspur. As the number of individuals detained in connection with the incident reaches five, authorities maintain that the inquiry is making headway. Police have previously detained Manjeet Nadda, Rohit Rana, Ritesh Sharma, and shooter Sagar, and three more individuals are currently under scrutiny, with arrests expected soon.

Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal affirmed that investigative efforts are proceeding rapidly. Meanwhile, Bamber Thakur has made pointed accusations against BJP MLA Trilok Jamwal, alleging that Jamwal, involved in drug trafficking, orchestrated the attack. Thakur asserted that the attackers were associated with Jamwal and confessed to their crimes. In a chilling claim, Thakur highlighted the conspirators' month-long presence in Bilaspur prior to the attack.
