Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in her inaugural budget presentation, unveiled a significant Rs 100 crore allocation aimed at relocating overhead electricity cables in the 2025-26 fiscal year. This initiative underscores Gupta's commitment to making Delhi self-reliant in energy.
For the first time in over 26 years, Delhi's legislative assembly saw a BJP-led government present its budget, with Gupta, who also serves as finance minister, allocating a substantial Rs 3,847 crore to the power department—far exceeding the previous government's allocation.
Gupta emphasized the importance of moving high and low-tension transmission lines underground, which will enhance Delhi's infrastructure while focusing on increased domestic power generation through renewable sources. The 'PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme' is part of this green energy push, with substantial subsidies and solar rooftop projects planned.
