A small village in Baghpat, Sarurpur Kalan, has made headlines as 36 young residents were successfully recruited into the Uttar Pradesh Police force, without any formal coaching or professional training facilities. Their achievement underscores the power of determination and self-driven efforts in a setting lacking conventional support structures.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board announced on March 13 that 60,244 candidates were selected during Direct Recruitment-2023. Among millions of applicants, those from Sarurpur Kalan, a village known for its preference for police and armed forces careers, excelled, with families playing a crucial role in motivating the youths.
Village head Jagveer attributes their success to sheer will and familial support rather than government assistance. With no local coaching centers, the aspiring candidates utilized open fields for physical training and two to three libraries for study materials. Stories of individual perseverance, such as those of Bharti Nain and Komal Sharma, illustrate their relentless pursuit of dreams despite numerous setbacks.
