The Waqf Amendment Bill has ignited a new wave of controversy, with nationwide protests spearheaded by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). The bill, introduced to bring transparency and regulation to Waqf properties, has been labeled as misleading by part of the Muslim leadership.

BJP MP and Joint Parliamentary Committee Chairman, Jagadambika Pal, defended the amendments, emphasizing they aim for the public good and would not infringe upon religious freedoms. Pal accused AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi of inciting unnecessary fear among minority communities, asserting the bill's necessity for reform.

Jammu and Kashmir's former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, criticized the bill's perceived targeting of Muslims, warning of heightened tensions. The proposed reforms focus on digitization and reclaiming illegally occupied properties, hoping to tackle longstanding issues like mismanagement and corruption.
