India Intensifies Fight Against Tuberculosis with Nationwide Campaign Expansion

Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Monday inaugurated the World TB Day 2025 Summit. During his address, Nadda urged the nation to commit to a TB-free India, emphasizing the need for continued dedication in combating the disease, according to an official statement.
As the 100-day TB Free India campaign concludes, Nadda reflected on the journey towards a TB-free nation. He highlighted Prime Minister Modi's 2018 mandate to eliminate TB by 2025, showcasing how the country has progressed towards this goal. The campaign led to over 13.46 lakh community screening and awareness camps, ensuring essential TB services reached countless citizens, the statement revealed.
Throughout the 100-day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, 12.97 crore individuals were screened for tuberculosis, with over 7.19 lakh TB patients notified. Significantly, approximately 2.85 lakh asymptomatic cases were detected through the campaign's focused screening strategies.
Capitalizing on the campaign's blueprint, the Union Health Minister announced its nationwide expansion. This expansion aims to enhance case identification through technology and timely treatment. Additionally, States and UTs were recognized for their outstanding performance in the initiative.
The event also marked the launch of a digital Coffee Table Book and a guidance document on 'differentiated TB care'. (ANI)
