The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has activated Stage-I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR as the capital's Air Quality Index hit 206, entering the 'poor' category. The decision was made based on data from the Central Pollution Control Board.
Under GRAP's Stage-I, designed for AQI levels ranging from 201 to 300, all 27 prescribed actions must be enacted by relevant agencies in the National Capital Region. This includes strict compliance by Pollution Control Boards and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee, according to the CAQM's release.
The Sub-Committee has appealed to NCR residents to adhere to measures outlined in the GRAP Citizen Charter. Efforts include maintaining vehicle engines, checking tyre pressures, and updating Pollution Under Control certificates. In light of expected challenges, dust control for construction and road activities remains crucial, with the Commission closely monitoring air quality and adjusting plans as needed.
