In a significant stride towards strengthening the technology sector, Infineon Technologies India has launched its first Global Capability Center at GIFT City in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The inauguration, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, signifies the rapid implementation of Gujarat's Global Capability Center Policy, aimed at creating a 'Viksit Bharat', officials announced Monday.
The center's opening included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Infineon Technologies and IIT-Gandhinagar to foster collaboration on industrial research and innovation. The Gujarat Government provided financial incentives as part of its 2025-30 policy plan. The Chief Minister emphasized the strategic importance of AI and semiconductor technologies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance.
Boasting three upcoming semiconductor plants, Gujarat emerges as a pivotal player in India's tech landscape. The state's initiatives align with the nationwide push towards a knowledge-based economy. Infineon CEO Jochen Hanebeck expressed confidence in Gujarat's role in advancing India's industry and announced plans to employ 500 engineers within five years.
