On Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with Governor Anandiben Patel in Lucknow to celebrate the completion of his government's eight-year tenure. During the meeting at Raj Bhavan, Adityanath presented the book "Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas - Eight Years of Prosperity" to Governor Patel. On social media, the Chief Minister stated, "On the occasion of completion of 8 years of 'policy of service, security and good governance' of the Uttar Pradesh government, I made a courtesy call on Hon'ble Governor Anandiben Patel today at Raj Bhawan, Lucknow. On this occasion, she was also presented the book 'Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas-8 Years of Prosperity.'"

Earlier, Adityanath addressed a gathering celebrating his government's tenure, asserting that Uttar Pradesh has evolved from a BIMARU state into a "growth engine" driving the nation's economic development. "UP was considered among the BIMARU states 8 years ago, known only for its labor force. Today, it has transformed into the nation's economic growth engine," he declared at a press conference.

The Chief Minister also discussed the challenges faced by the agriculture sector prior to 2017 and lauded his government's efforts to enhance agricultural productivity. He said, "The agriculture sector was neglected before 2017. UP has abundant agricultural potential and water resources, which could have fostered an agricultural boom. We could have increased farmers' incomes through technology, but before 2017, farmers were committing suicide. Farmer welfare schemes had been unresolved for nearly four decades."

Highlighting past struggles faced by farmers, including suicides and pending welfare schemes, Adityanath said, "The sugar industry was on the verge of collapse before 2017. We revived defunct sugar mills; currently, 122 sugar mills operate in the state. Sugarcane farmers have been paid over Rs. 2.8 lakh crores from 2017 till now. We've accomplished more in 8 years than previous governments did in 22 years."

On security, Adityanath cited the successful organization of the Prayagraj Mahakumbh as proof of Uttar Pradesh's improved law and order situation. "Prior to 2017, law and order was dire, with frequent riots and unsafe conditions for daughters and traders. Today, UP has significantly improved security, and the Prayagraj Mahakumbh is the most prominent example. During the 45-day event, there were no incidents causing inconvenience. In 2017, there were 1.5 lakh vacancies in the UP police department - recruitment was opaque. More than 2,16,000 police personnel have been recruited since," he said.

Accusing prior administrations of undermining security forces, Adityanath remarked, "54 PAC companies were disbanded, a move that handed rioters a free pass. We've since revived these companies and incorporated two women's PAC units. Additionally, we've installed 11 lakh CCTVs. UP stands as the first state to complete CCTV installation across 17 municipal corporations and Gautam Buddh Nagar."

To commemorate the occasion, a programme was held in Lucknow, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, and other prominent figures. (ANI)
