Security Forces Dismantle Terrorist Hideout in Anantnag

In a significant counter-terrorism operation, security forces in Anantnag uncovered a terrorist hideout in the Sanglan forest. The operation led to the discovery of arms and ammunition, reinforcing the commitment of the forces to ensure regional peace.

In a decisive counter-terrorism operation, a joint team of security forces including the Special Operations Group (SOG) Anantnag, 19 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and CRPF successfully dismantled a terrorist hideout in the remote Sanglan forest. This area falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Uttersoo.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, GV Sundeep, the operation was conducted based on specific intelligence about terrorist activities in Chitragul. The search led to the recovery of significant arms and ammunition from the hideout, with investigations currently underway. The site was reportedly used to provide logistics support to terrorists.

In a related action, Anantnag police demolished an illegal structure in Hassanpora Bijbehara linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba handler Haron Rashid Ganie, who has been radicalizing local youth since 2018. The police continue to maintain vigilance against any handlers attempting to instigate terrorism from across the border, emphasizing zero tolerance for such activities.

The operation saw the recovery of 200 empty AK cartridges, two gas cylinders, a Chinese grenade, a Night Vision Device (NVD), bedding, utensils, and food packets, underlining the hideout's role as a terrorist logistical base. This action underscores the commitment of Anantnag Police and security forces to fight terrorism and assure safety and security in the region.
