The government of Andhra Pradesh is deploying resources to assist farmers stricken by recent unexpected rains, according to Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu.
Officials are evaluating the damage to banana, maize, papaya, and paddy crops, with plans to distribute timely compensation to the affected areas. Over recent years, the minister criticized the previous governance for neglecting farmer support, particularly highlighting unfulfilled promises to banana farmers.
Atchannaidu announced a financial aid package, including an input subsidy and replanting funds for banana farmers, while condemning extravagant spending by the former YSRCP administration. The local government aims to provide over Rs 1 lakh per hectare for the beleaguered producers.
