In a controversial move, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has replaced the Indian Rupee symbol with the Tamil alphabet 'Ru' for the state's budget logo, drawing sharp criticism from Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Narayanan Thirupathy.
Thirupathy termed this decision as 'childish, foolish, and nonsensical,' voicing his disapproval during an interview with ANI. He highlighted that the original Rupee symbol was designed by a Tamilian who was a former DMK MLA, and was greatly praised by the late M Karunanidhi, suggesting that Stalin's move disrespects this legacy.
In his social media post, Thirupathy accused Stalin of attempting to divert attention from his government's failures and stated that such acts only serve to make the leader appear immature and ridiculous. He urged the public to reject what he sees as a superficial political tactic.
