A trade union has called for a judicial inquiry into a tragic coal mine accident at a subsidiary of Coal India, resulting in the deaths of three workers.
In correspondence with Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy, Nathulal Pandey of Hind Khadan Mazdoor Federation highlighted the incident at Chhatarpur-1 coal mine in Western Coalfields Ltd's Pathakheda zone in Madhya Pradesh. The disaster, caused by a roof collapse, halted production and claimed three lives, underscoring lapses in safety norms.
The federation further urged for a Court of Enquiry to prevent future tragedies and demanded compensation of Rs 15 lakh, job opportunities for dependents, and continued salary payments to families until retirement.
