Controversy has emerged in India following comments made by prominent political figures regarding Muslim practices during Hindu festivals. The controversy began when BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur's comments urging Muslims to 'stay indoors' were followed by further remarks from Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Singh on how and where Muslims should perform Namaz during Hindu festivals.
Addressing the issue, Minister Singh stated that while there is no objection to Muslims offering Namaz, he believes it should not interfere with Hindu festivals like Holi. He argued that Muslims could modify their religious practices, for instance, by offering Namaz at home, to avoid discomfort for Hindus.
Amidst this tension, BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal called for unity, encouraging people of all religions to celebrate Holi together, while Union Minister Giriraj Singh condemned statements from RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, who criticized the inaction of Bihar's Chief Minister against the BJP MLA for his controversial remarks.
