Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Member of Parliament Kanimozhi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following his contentious remarks in the Lok Sabha, accusing him of abusive language and the central government of withholding crucial educational funds for Tamil Nadu's children.
Kanimozhi, representing Thoothukudi constituency, put forth accusations that the Union Minister's words were undemocratic and demanded an apology. She highlighted that the central government is withholding funds, contingent on Tamil Nadu accepting the National Education Policy (NEP) and the three-language policy, which she argued jeopardizes the future of Tamil Nadu's children.
The controversy arose when Pradhan, during a Lok Sabha discussion, labeled the Tamil Nadu government and opposition MPs as 'liars' and 'uncivilised,' remarks he later retracted. However, the withdrawal did little to quell the uproar, prompting Kanimozhi and her fellow DMK parliamentarians, clad in black, to stage a protest at the Parliament complex, further escalating the ongoing confrontation.
