In a call for action, Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has demanded a comprehensive investigation into a suspected illegal gold smuggling network involving Kannada actress Ranya Rao. Addressing the media in Delhi, Bommai highlighted the need to uncover all individuals involved in the alleged criminal activities linked to Rao.
Bommai addressed land allocation issues during his tenure, stating that the allotment of land to Xiroda India Pvt. Ltd., where Rao was a director, never went through his office. He clarified that the usual land allocation process involves a Land Audit Committee and does not typically reach the Chief Minister for projects worth up to Rs 500 crore.
The ongoing investigation into the gold smuggling case needs to be exhaustive, Bommai urged, implicating potential involvement from government officials. He called for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe, believing it essential to unmask the entire network. Additionally, Bommai criticized the current government's management of Bengaluru's infrastructure, citing a lack of effective action and offering suggestions for urban development and fair distribution of resources.
