On Monday, security forces in Manipur conducted a series of intensive search operations leading to multiple arrests and the confiscation of weapons, as confirmed by Manipur Police. Despite the operations, the region remains tense but under controlled supervision by authorities.

Among the arrests, two KYKL group members were apprehended in the Bishnupur District. Pukhrambam Damol Singh, 39, and Athokpam Surchandra Singh Khaba, alias Rabichandra, 42, were detained with mobile phones and Aadhaar cards in their possession. In a related development, an active member of the UPPK, Ningombam Bonbon Singh Shamu, was arrested in Imphal East District, suspected of extortion and arms trafficking. A .32 pistol and eight live rounds were subsequently retrieved.

The operations also led to the capture of two KCP (PWG) members in Imphal West District, engaged in extortion acts targeting citizens and local shops. A cache of grenades, cash, and mobile phones were recovered. Additionally, police rescued two minor girls involved in forced recruitment activities. The minors were safely handed over to the Child Welfare Committee for further care.

To bolster security efforts, 109 checkpoints have been established throughout Manipur. Security agencies emphasize caution against rumor-mongering and misinformation, stressing that perpetrators could face legal repercussions. Authorities continue to appeal for the return of stolen weaponry.
